Wetex to have hall dedicated to innovation

DUBAI, August 18, 2016

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has announced a specialised hall dedicated for innovation during the 18th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (Wetex 2016) in Dubai, UAE, in October.

Wetex is being organised under the directives of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and president of Dewa at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, from October 4 to 6, said a Wam news agency report.

Allocating a hall for innovation during Wetex is part of Dewa's continuous efforts to boost innovation in the UAE, and to support the National Innovation Strategy to make Dubai the most innovative city in the world, said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa, founder and chairman of Wetex.

"The innovation hall aims to attract creative minds and innovative companies to showcase their inventions and innovations side by side with leading global companies in the fields of innovation. This step will support the youth as well as boost energy, water, environment, and green development," said  Al Tayer.

Wetex 2016 will be held under the umbrella of Green Week, the pioneering initiative led by Dewa to boost the implementation of green practices.

It also coincides with the first Dubai Solar Show, a key platform for solar energy solutions including building, operation, distribution, storage, and solar energy management technologies.
