Oman’s TMK GIPI completes facility expansion

MUSCAT, August 8, 2016

Oman’s TMK Gulf International Pipe Industry (TMK GIPI) is in the final stages of completing its mill expansion for the manufacturing of smaller size pipes used for oil and gas well delivery, which are currently sourced from overseas markets.

The expansion is expected to create 15 permanent jobs, said a statement from the company.

The modernisation and expansion of the mill underscores TMK GIPI’s commitment to in-country value (ICV) development, it said.

TMK GIPI is the first manufacturer of high pressure steel line pipes and C pipes in Oman and the first mill in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region and Indian Sub-continent to manufacture high pressure 6” - 24” Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) steel pipes, it added.

Vladimir I Shcherbatykh, CEO of TMK GIPI, said: "This mill is world class, state-of-the-art for the oil and gas industry."

"These days the challenge of increasing oil and gas production is associated with technology, and our company's commitment is to provide Oman's oil and gas industry, as well as other operators within the region, with products, manufactured under the strictest standards and with the highest quality along with just-in-time service and technical support," he said.

"This achievement is a testimony of a team play between the whole TMK Group, technical expertise, research and development and the site team at Sohar Plant," he added. - TradeArabia News Service
