Saudi Arabia's Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman

Saudi, France plan major trade agreements

RIYADH, June 30, 2016

Saudi Arabia and France are expected to sign major trade agreements in defence, energy, health care, agriculture, transport, research, housing, sports, media, environment and tourism during the current visit of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The pacts will be finalised during a meeting of the Saudi-French Joint Committee, said the Arab News report, citing French sources.

France has more than 80 companies operating in Saudi Arabia, and over 27,000 French nationals are currently employed in the kingdom, it said.

France’s exports to Saudi Arabia amounted to €3.1 billion ($3.44 billion) in 2015, marking an increase of 6 per cent from the figures in 2014, said the French ambassador to the kingdom Bertrand Bzansno.

He pointed out that despite Saudi Arabia’s exports to France being hit by the oil slump, the two countries are still discussing several major deals.
