Al Ashram in deal to build new Aramex Dubai facility

DUBAI, June 15, 2016

Al Ashram Investments, a Dubai-based leading investment firm, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Aramex, a leading global provider of comprehensive logistics and transportation solutions, to build and lease back its new Express Courier Facility in Dubai, UAE.

The new facility costing Dh75 million ($20.41 million) will be located in the Umm Ramool area on Dubai Airport Road. It will be constructed by Al Ashram Contracting on a fast-track build-to-suit basis with an expected completion within seven months.

It has been designed to employ the latest technologies to serve Aramex’s growing customer base more effectively and efficiently, in line with the company’s continuous efforts to upgrade its operations to simplify its customers’ experiences, said a statement.

Al Ashram will construct the new Express Courier Facility in full compliance with Dubai’s Green Building Regulations and Specifications which aim to create a more sustainable urban environment.

Muhannad Al Ashram, executive director at Al Ashram Investments, said: “It has been a great pleasure working with the UAE’s leading logistics company, Aramex. It requires experienced operators to materialise a deal of this scale. This project is rooted in shared core values between Al Ashram and Aramex, such as forward-thinking and a passion for excellence. We are honoured to build this innovative and advanced establishment that will surely be recognised as a showcase facility in the region.”

Hussein Wehbe, general manager of Aramex in the UAE, said: “We are pleased to be partnering with Al Ashram Investments in building our new Express Courier Facility in Dubai, which will be Aramex’s first fully automated facility in the region.

“The facility will be equipped with innovative state-of-the-art technologies, for higher capacity, faster sortation process, and reduced transit times. We believe this will allow us to meet the growing customer demand for rapid and more efficient shipment deliveries. We will remain committed to investing in innovation as we grow our operations in the UAE.”

The new facility would be constructed on a build-to-suit basis as Aramex is the single occupant of the property. This will allow Aramex the freedom to include its specific requirements in the construction of the building without owning the property, it said. – TradeArabia News Service
