Ikea Saudi launches wireless charging range

RIYADH, March 7, 2016

Ghassan Ahmed Al Sulaiman Furniture Trading, Ikea Saudi Arabia, a leading home furnishings company, has launched a new design collection integrating wireless charging of mobile phones and reading tablets.

The new solutions, turning bedside tables, lamps and desks into charging spots, will be available across all Ikea Saudi Arabia stores, a statement said.

The Ikea Wireless Charging collection is part of a long term commitment called ‘Home Smart’ in which Ikea strives for new innovative solutions for a better life at home, it added.

When developing the Wireless Charging collection, new but available technology has been used to meet people’s needs of outlets and chargers beyond the fixed ones in homes or work environments.

Faisal Al-Gain, country marketing manager at Ikea Saudi Arabia, said: “At Ikea, we are always on the lookout for new innovative solutions to win the hearts of our customers. With smartphones being such a natural part of our everyday lives, we want the charging process to also become a natural part of our customer’s homes.

“This collection will make life at home much simpler, away from cable clutter. We have innovated and integrated wireless charging into our range, making mobile charging a lot more accessible, yet a lot less obvious.”

The technology was built in collaboration with the global certification standard Qi, offering a third party certification for wireless charging products. The new collection, turning bedside tables, floor and table lamps as well as desks into charging spots, was designed by David Wahl amongst other designers.

“We have created smart wireless solutions so you don’t need to see the cables anymore. Many products can be charged at the same time using beautifully designed pieces of furniture,” said Wahl. – TradeArabia News Service
