GIR boosts manufacturing base

MANAMA, February 9, 2016

Leading trading firm Global Industrial Resources (GIR) of Bahrain is expanding its manufacturing base in Bahrain.

“We are exploring the potential to start locally manufacturing several industrial products. This will expand our business as well as create opportunities for Bahrainis,” says GIR vice chairman and managing director Ali Najjar, ading that the company hopes to start manufacturing carbon brushes by 2019-2020.

GIR supplies products to various sectors including aluminium, cement, steel and petrochemical industries and also manufactures filter bags for various industrial uses through its subsidiary Bahrain Industrial Filters (BIF) at Hidd.

Najjar says that BIF is now expanding its manufacturing capabilities to all types of filter products for both dry and liquid filtration applications. These are made from selected filter media imported from the best plants in Europe.

Owned by Najjar Investments Company, GIR supplies many well-known products ranging from cathode collector bars, steel bars, round bars, anodes, refractories, material handling equipment, spares, foundry chemicals, consumables, specialty lubricants, specialty dust extraction systems, carbon brushes, and chemicals, to name a few. It serves industrial companies in Bahrain and the rest of the GCC and also represents specialist companies that provide turnkey solutions for the aluminium and other industries.

GIR also plans to branch into logistics services. “Bahrain, with its favourable location, can be a hub for the efficient supply and distribution of products across the GCC. So we are planning to start a logistics company to serve various industrial sectors across the region,” Najjar says.

The company has sourcing offices in China and India, which helps it cater to the needs of clients.
GIR is headed by chairman Redha Najjar, who worked at Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) for 27 years at various positions.

A regular participant at the Gulf Industry Fair, GIR sees the event as an opportunity to showcase its vast product portfolio and expertise with decision-makers in the industry. - TradeArabia News Service
