Honeywell, Denel in deal to extend capabilities

DUBAI, November 5, 2015

Honeywell Aerospace has signed a strategic deal with Denel Aviation, a division of Denel (SOC), the South African aircraft original equipment manufacturer (OEM), maintenance, repair and overhaul facility.

Under the agreement, the parties will explore opportunities to provide retrofit, modification and upgrades to military fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, as well as commercial helicopters, said a statement.

The two companies will work to provide customers with integrated solutions for a wide range of Honeywell avionics, satellite communication and mechanical products that increase operational capability, reduce cost, and enhance safety, reliability and efficiency, it said.

The operators in sub-Saharan Africa represent a critical market for Honeywell and Denel Aviation.

The companies aim to apply their complementary knowledge to address the specific challenges of the region’s operators and deliver rapid maintenance and repair as well as improved communications, helping customers to extend the lifespan of their fleets and reduce downtime, said the statement.

The agreement, signed last month, will provide greater capabilities and support to more than 1,500 military and commercial platforms in the region, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
