ABB promotes latest products, services at Saudi event

ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, will present some of its cutting edge power technologies at the ongoing GCC Cigré Conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The event which kicked off today (November 3), will conclude on November 5.

The event is a key platform for discussion of global trends, technologies and future developments in the power sector, with delegates attending from all over the world, said a statement from the company.

Economic growth in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, necessitates a strong power infrastructure to secure a reliable electricity supply to growing industrial and commercial sectors in the region, as well as to households, it said.

To meet this rising demand, Saudi Arabia is targeting for aiming an average annual growth rate of 7.5 gigawatts (GW), it added.

From semiconductors to cables, pioneering HVDC technologies to digital substations of the future, asset health centre and microgrids, the company is showcasing some of its latest offerings that are shaping the evolution of a stronger, smarter and greener grid, said the statement.

The latest gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) designed to minimise footprint, lifecycle costs and environmental impact, enabling installation where space is limited and in harsh environments, will also be displayed at the event, it added.

As part of its smart grids showcase, ABB will present and explain its products and solutions such as Symphony plus, Outage management and Advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) among other advanced portfolios, it stated.
