Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has decided to move forward with a plan to absorb all 53 vocational trainees with the company into various departments of Alba as per the agreement with Tamkeen and their signed contracts.

The decision follows a meeting between Alba’s executive management, director administration and managers of human resources and training departments with the chairman of Alba Labour Union and other members of the Labour Union Board, said an Alba statement.

The statement was issued in response to the news relating to the alleged dismissal of the vocational trainees (VT), the company said.

"The meeting was concluded positively and starting from today a panel comprising the human resources and training departments will be meeting the VTs to determine their allocation to various departments within the company based on the skills attained during the two-year training, to engage them on regular employment terms as per the company policy and in line with the applicable labour laws," it said.

Alba Labour Union chairman Ali Al Binali expressed his thanks and utmost gratitude to Alba’s executive management for their support towards resolving the said matter in the best interests of the vocational trainees, Alba and Tamkeen, it said. - TradeArabia News Service
