Infrastructure to drive Qatar’s access control market

The massive infrastructure development owing to upcoming Fifa World Cup 2022 as well as increasing security and IT spending will drive Qatar’s access control market to grow at a CAGR of 12.52 per cent during 2015-21, a report said.
To build the infrastructure for the mega event, a whopping $300 billion would be invested in the country across various sectors. To improve the security for these rising infrastructures, demand for security systems such as access control systems is exhibited to increase, according to the report entitled “Qatar’s Access Control Market (2015-2021)” from 6Wresearch, a global market research and consulting firm specializes in niche and emerging markets.
Card reader access control system would continue to dominate the access control market, since contactless card reader systems are highly deployed in hospitality, retail, commercial and banking sectors in the country, said Prijo Samuel, senior research analyst, Research and Consulting, 6Wresearch.
“During the forecast period, market for biometric access control system is expected to propel due to higher reliability and security.
“Also, adoption of hybrid access control systems is anticipated, which includes both biometric and card reader feature. In biometrics access control market, fingerprint technology based systems have captured lion share and would maintain its dominance through the forecast period,” he added.
According to Sathi Paul, research associate, Research and Consulting, 6Wresearch, Qatar’s access control market is anticipated to grow in the future on account of various projects such as football stadiums, Pearl Qatar , Doha Metro, Airport City Project, Lusail City and several new hotel projects.
“Furthermore, commercial office segment accounted the largest share in the access control market, followed by government and transportation segment. Apart from these two applications, hospitality sector highly installs access control systems and with the construction of new hotels for accommodating the visitors during World Cup, demand for access control systems would increase in the coming years,” Paul concluded.
