Honeywell enhances digital video manager

MANAMA, September 14, 2015

Honeywell, a technology and manufacturing leader, has enhanced the Honeywell Digital Video Manager (DVM) as part of its longstanding commitment to supporting security efforts in the Middle East.

The latest release, DVM R600, will enable security teams at landmark buildings as well as key industrial and commercial facilities to more efficiently manage their security systems thanks to enhanced mobile capabilities, voice command and support for current IT platforms, said a statement.

The major updates to DVM include enhanced system access and usability, which have been designed to improve operator efficiency and reaction time, it said.

The security personnel at airports, universities, shopping malls and sensitive industrial facilities can now access high-definition, full-frame-rate video on a mobile device, for example, enabling continuous monitoring from almost any location.

The operators can also control DVM using voice commands to more easily manage multiple video feeds and request near-real-time system updates.

Anthony Azar, vice president and general manager, Honeywell Building Solutions, said: “Every second is important to an organization when an incident occurs and security staff must take immediate action if there is a threat.

“The latest update to DVM helps operators quickly identify and react to an issue to help mitigate the impact to safety and business continuity — no matter if they are in front of a central workstation or on the opposite side of a campus, connected with a smartphone.”

Along with an improved user experience, DVM R600 will promote IT integration and compliance with support for current Microsoft operating systems and databases, including Windows Server 2012, Windows 8.1, Internet Explorer 11 and SQL Server 2014.

In addition, DVM R600 will allow customers to deploy and intelligently group multiple back-up servers to boost system robustness, which helps protect surveillance systems from failures.

The other DVM upgrades will focus on speeding data collection and reducing storage requirements, said the statement.

DVM is a component of Honeywell Enterprise Buildings Integrator (EBI), an award-winning building management system that ties all aspects of a security solution together, including video surveillance, access control and intrusion detection.

EBI will also integrate comfort, life safety, energy and other core facility controls providing users a single point of access to the essential information and resources needed to monitor, manage and protect a facility, campus or multi-site operation, it said.

As a result, security operators will have optimised visibility and intelligence, and the ability to deploy their staff and resources more efficiently and effectively, it added. - TradeArabia News Servcie
