Nakilat ... among the world's largest LNG shippers

Nakilat increases foreign ownership limit to 49pc

DOHA, September 8, 2015

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat), one of the world's largest shippers of liquefied natural gas, has announced its decision to increase its foreign ownership limit to 49 per cent, from the existing 25 per cent, a report said.

The company held an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) yesterday to agree upon the increase of its non-Qatari ownership limit, among a number of amendments to the company’s Articles of Association, said the Peninsula Qatar report.

According to the decision, Qatari Governmental Institutions, Qatari non-for-profit organisations, Qatari Governmental Pension and Investments Funds can own a percentage of share capital up to five per cent of the total shares of the company, added the report.

The trading of Nakilat shares were suspended on Qatar Exchange (QE) yesterday due to the EGM.
