Dubai Customs launches ‘Together for Excellence’

DUBAI, July 9, 2015

Dubai Customs has launched a human resource initiative titled ‘Together for Excellence,’ in line with the vision and directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, towards shedding the light upon the importance of leveraging employees’ capacities, which brings in mutual benefit for both employees and clients alike.

The new initiative is aimed to better sharpen the behavioural, administrative, leadership and specialised capacities of higher degree holders, said a statement.

In return, it is expected to create a further competitive edge of the human capital at DC and to better harness innovation and increase levels of retention, it said.

Buti Abdullah Al Jumairi, executive director of Human Resources, Finance and Administration Division, said: “This programme is fully aligned with DC’s adopted approach in launching innovative and creative initiatives with the aim of better improving procedures and developing the work environment.

“The HR Department seeks to establish a strong base of higher degree holders;  capable of achieving the strategic goals, as well as to create a luring environment for accredited employees to join Dubai Customs.”

Lubna Al Muhairi, HR Department director at Dubai Customs, said: “It  includes four levels, which are planning, assessment, development and graduation. In the planning phase, candidates are identified, then a briefing session is held to analyse the participants needs and expectations, followed by the assessment phase which covers behavioural and technical evaluation as well as an individual feedback sessions are held to enhance awareness and employee’s self-development, then to design the individual training plan for each participant.

“The development phase shall be held in cooperation with the Customs Training Center, with the aim of transferring the participant from the realm of guessing and assumptions into the realm of experimental knowledge, each as per their speciality and specific needs.”

“This programme will be a breakthrough in encouraging other employees to further pursue their higher education,  which will have a positive impact on the employees and the organisation as a whole, “ Al Muhairi added. - TradeArabia News Service
