Chinese lighting giant opens Mideast HQ in Dubai

DUBAI, May 27, 2015

Chinese lighting giant Shanghai Yaming Lighting Company has established its regional headquarters at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park in Dubai, UAE, with an aim to step up the company’s operations across the Middle East and Africa (MEA) and the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States).

A pioneer in lighting technology development, Yaming Lighting said it will add innovation and sustainability to complement the region’s existing infrastructure by developing renewable technology and globally approved customised solutions.

Mohammed Alzarooni, the vice-chairman and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSOA) and Zhuang Shenan, chairman of Shanghai Yaming Lighting Company, led the inauguration of the headquarters yesterday (May 26) in the presence of senior company officials.

Welcoming the Chinese firm, Alzarooni, said: "We are confident the company will create great opportunities for consultants, designers, lighting engineers, and government bodies with its innovative line of products and internationally acclaimed lighting components."

"Yaming’s decision to base its regional operations out of Dubai Silicon Oasis reflects our shared vision for renewable energy and energy-saving projects, as well as innovative and smart technologies," he noted.

Shenan said Shanghai Yaming selected the emirate only after extensive feasibility studies. "Dubai emerged as the top choice for our regional headquarters, given its leading status across diverse economic indicators," he noted.

“Furthermore, Dubai Silicon Oasis offers the ideal platform to showcase our products and services with its state-of-the-art infrastructure and enabling services. We consider this development an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the best of our illuminating solutions and lighting applications for the benefit of this region,” he added.

Rashid Al Noori, the chairman of Yaming Middle East, Africa and CIS, said since its inception in 1923, the Chinese group had excelled in focusing on new technologies and reducing carbon footprint.

"Aligned with the vision of Dubai and Yaming’s own global strategy, our aim is to minimise carbon emissions and leverage the state-of-the-art infrastructure at DSO to deliver best-in-class energy-efficient lighting solutions to meet the dynamic demands of our urban ecosystem," he stated.

Globally, Yaming offers well-integrated illumination services with the support of its research and development (R&D), manufacturing, marketing, sales and contracting departments. Its products are exported to more than 90 countries worldwide.-TradeArabia News Service
