King Abdullah Port ...... received large shipment from Samsung Engineering

KAP receives shipments for Rabigh 2 power plant

RIYADH, May 4, 2015

King Abdullah Port (KAP), owned and developed by Ports Development Company, recently received a large shipment of equipment for the Rabigh 2 power plant.

The shipment of equipment comprising 10 giant units is part of the first shipment from a total of 94 units that have been constructed by Samsung Engineering, which are each approximately 30 metres in length, said a report by the Saudi Gazette.

The units received weighed in at 20,000 tonnes, and its handling is considered as a unique leap in the works of freight and handling services at the port.

Samsung Engineering selected King Abdullah Port to import the equipment due to its unique transport network, speed and world-class standards that allow the entry and exist of such large and heavy machinery.
 
The equipment will be installed at the Rabigh 2 power plant, a joint venture project between Samsung Engineering and Saudi Electricity Company to generate 2,000 MW of electricity in the Western Region.
