Equate begins work on new headquarters

KUWAIT, February 12, 2015

Equate Petrochemical Company, Kuwait’s first international petrochemical joint venture, today held the groundbreaking ceremony for its new headquarters in Ahmadi City.

The event was held under the patronage of Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Fawaz Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Equate president and CEO Mohammad Husain expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Governor for patronising this event.

Husain also signed the construction contract for the headquarters with Kuwait Company for Process Plant Construction & Contracting (KCPC) chairman Moayed Al-Saleh. The building is designed by Gulf Consult and the project management will be by Projacs International.

The KD8 million ($27 million) project will provide 20,000 sq m of space.

Husain said the headquarters will be a centre that groups the company's human resources who exemplify top international achievements at all levels. The building will meet all global standards in terms of the environment and energy conservation.

Equuate engineering and construction leader Sulaiman Al-Bader said: “The headquarters, with all its facilities, is a smart and environmentally friendly building that is registered at the United States Green Building Council. Equate is aspiring to have the building Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified by this council.

In addition, the building’s design includes features and specifications that will reduce water consumption by 20 per cent. It will utilise solar energy for 5 per cent of the building’s power requirements. - TradeArabia News Service
