RIYADH, December 28, 2014

Saudi Specialised Pipes’ (SS Pipes) factory at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) in Saudi Arabia will launch production trials next month following the completion of construction work and equipment installation, said a senior official of the company.

The factory has been set up at an investment of SR50 million ($13.31 million), said Hasan S Hassanein, general manager of SS Pipes - a business unit set up by Nabil Krimmley Establishment for the manufacture of specialised pipes in the country using state-of-art German technology and locally sourced industrial raw materials.

SS Pipes, a manufacturing unit for polymer-reinforced concrete (PRC) pipes and allied PRC products, operates from KAEC under a technical collaboration with Metromax r PRC, Germany, a leading manufacturer of polymer concrete products in Europe.

The plant and machinery to manufacture PRC pipes and products is sourced from reputed German companies such as B+S, Respecta, while computer-controlled and automated moulding machines for production are from Metromax, said Hassanein.

SS Pipes sizes range from 600 mm to 2,200 mm ID (internal diameter), and are manufactured in 3-m lengths with one end fitted with a sleeve in the factory.

SS Pipes, under an agreement with Metromax PRC, Germany, has access to accumulated and developing technical know-how, expertise as well as to new developments in PRC manufacture.

“PRC pipes manufactured at our state-of-art plant at KAEC will be ideal for collection and transport of waste water, sewage and drainage of excess surface water,” Hassanein said.

Some of the advantages of SS Pipes are they bring the ideal solutions for trenchless and open trench construction, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
