Jordan set to strengthen MICE ties with UAE

SHARJAH, December 10, 2014

Jordan is exploring possibilities of strengthening its participation in trade shows being organised by Expo Centre Sharjah, aimed at enhancing trade ties with the UAE.

Officials discussed ways and means to boost the already strong relations between the countries, at a meeting held on the sidelines of the ongoing third OIC Halal Middle East Exhibition and Congress, and the second Kitchen Equipment and Technology Exhibition Middle East at the venue, said a statement.

The visiting delegation stressed on the contribution of the Jordanian community in the development of the UAE, it said.

Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, chief executive officer, Expo Centre Sharjah, who was part of the Sharjah side, said: “Sharjah has many successful projects that are conducive for investment for Jordan investors... In recent years, we have seen an increase in bilateral trade between our countries. We see great opportunities to enhance trade, and by boosting cooperation and coordination, I am sure we can better help business communities from both sides to tap into mutual investment and trade opportunities.”

The Jordanian side has much to gain, and can play an important role in the growth of the regional halal industry, he pointed out.

By participating in Halal Middle East, they can also effectively present their products & services and target the regional market, he added.
 
Neal Al Kabariti, chairman, Jordan Chamber of Commerce, said: “We discussed many topics that will encourage investment and promote trade exchanges. We also discussed the possibility of exchanging visits and increasing the presence of Jordanian exhibitors in Expo Centre events.”
 
The trade fairs at Expo Centre Sharjah will give Jordanian business community an opportunity to gauge the requirements of the regional market, to explore avenues of cooperation, joint ventures and open new marketing and trade channels, said the statement.

Jordanian exhibitors are taking part in the halal show, which also has participation from several other countries, apart from pavilions from Thailand, South Africa, China, Russia, Iran and the Philippines. - TradeArabia News Service
