Alba on track for strong year-end finish

MANAMA, December 8, 2014

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the largest aluminium smelters in the world, continues to be a key benchmark within the aluminium industry as the company prepares for future growth, said its top official.

"As we head into 2015, Alba will continue to focus on creating sustainable value for both Alba and Bahrain," stated Shaikh Daij Bin Salman Bin Daij Al Khalifa, the chairman of Alba’s board of directors, following the last quarterly meeting of the year.

Alba, he said, was the winner of the 2014 Gulf Aluminium Council (GAC) Health and Safety Award.

At the meeting, the board approved the 2015 annual operating plan and was given an update on the status of Line 6 expansion project.

Also, the GAC secretary general Mahmood Al Daylami briefed the board on the important role which the council plays in representing the Gulf's aluminium industry.

The Alba board comprises six directors appointed by Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, which in addition to Shaikh Daij include Yousif Abdulla Taqi, Osama Mohammed Al Arrayedh, Fahad Nasser Al-Hazzani, Dr Mohamed Kameshki and Tony Robinson (Anthony Lee Robinson).

The two directors appointed by Sabic Industrial Investments Company (SIIC) are Mutlaq Hamad Al Morished, Fahad S. Al Sheaibi and the independent director, Abdul Aziz Al Humaid.-TradeArabia News Service
