MANAMA, October 1, 2014

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Chinese Embassy yesterday to explore ways to strengthen business relationships.

The delegation was headed by Ambassador Li Chen, embassy counsellor Lin Zheming, first secretary to head of economic and commercial office Liu Gengsheng and economic and commercial office attache Liu Guipeng, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The Chinese officials were received by Alba chief executive Tim Murray, chief financial officer Ali Al Baqali, chief marketing officer Jean Baptiste Lucas, director for power and utilities Amin Sultan and director for administration Abdul Rahman Janahi.

"It was a great opportunity for us to introduce the delegates to the Alba smelter, which is considered as one of the largest aluminium producers in the world, and highlight our operations as well as systems of safety and environment that are in place," Murray said.

The Chinese delegation was given a tour around the different facilities of Alba by senior manager for metallurgy, laboratory and customer technical support Abdulla Habib.

During the visit, the Chinese delegates were given an insight into the vital role that Alba plays in supporting the national economy. Ways to strengthen trade ties between China and Bahrain were also discussed. - TradeArabia News Service
