Alba confirms topics for Arabal conference

MANAMA, September 15, 2014

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has announced the topics for the 18th International Arab Aluminium (Arabal) Conference, during a meeting with the Arabal Organising Committee recently.

The conference will take place from November 25 to 27 at the Gulf Hotel, Manama, Bahrain, under the theme ‘GCC: An aluminium power house,’ said a statement.

The topics chosen for the conference include GCC Smelters in Focus with the CEOs – panel discussion; Outlook for the global aluminium industry; Bahrain at the heart of the aluminium downstream; Alumina and refined bauxite dynamics in a dynamic environment; renewable energy; sustainability andenvironment; higher Education – “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember” and "LME: today & tomorrow".

A workshop on “Hedging your aluminium risk on the LME” will also be conducted by senior LME officials on November 25.

Tim Murray, CEO, said: “Alba is privileged to host Arabal 2014 under the patronage of the Prime Minster HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. This event will showcase Bahrain as an investment-friendly destination and highlight the contribution of the aluminium sector and downstream industries towards the economy of the Kingdom.

“The selected topics for Arabal 2014 Conference will focus on the current developments in the aluminium industry and the aluminium smelters in the GCC and their positions on the global aluminium map.  We look forward to announce the agenda of the event as well as the Press Conference, which will give further details about Arabal 2014.”

Arabal is a premium trade event for the Middle East’s aluminium industry. It is expected to attract more than 700 delegates to the kingdom including key decision makers and industry leaders from all sectors of the aluminium industry in the region and across the world. - TradeArabia News Service
