Delta Food to invest $11m in expansion

Sharjah, July 21, 2014

The UAE-based Delta Food Industries has announced plans to invest $11 million in expanding its factories to boost its food exports to the Middle Eastern and African regions.

The new factory will be expanded over an area of 110,000 sq ft at the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (Saif Zone).

Delta's decision comes after the company realised the need to develop its operations and increase its food exports to Middle Eastern and African markets, following the success it has achieved in these markets.

The investment contract was signed by Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, director of Saif Zone, and Shiraz Osman, director and founder of Delta Industries, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.

Al Mazrouei said: "We are proud of having Delta Industries in the Zone because it is one of the leading companies in the field of food manufacturing and packaging. It has proven in the past three years that it is one of the most successful companies in the canned food sector. Today, Delta Industries confirms once again its success by increasing its investment by Dh40 million."

Shiraz Osman said: "Delta Company has sought since its establishment in 2011 to compete with major international companies in the food industry, and consequently it succeeded in building a network of clients in 16 countries to become one of the leading companies in importing and exporting raw materials for food industry."

The expansion works will be completed within 12 months. Once completed, the company hopes to diversify its product range to include consumables such as cream, milk and tea packaging.

“Delta Food Industries is planning to open new production lines to produce cream, milk and tea packaging in the new factories,” Osman added.

Delta Food currently manufactures and export tomato paste, tomato ketchup and milk powder.

Delta Industries is one of the most successful companies operating in the UAE’s canned food sector. It currently exports 150 twenty-foot-equivalent units containers monthly. It hopes to increase the number to 250 containers every month. - TradeArabia News Service
