Top industry fair set for January
Manama

The third Gulf Industry Fair will be held from January 12 to 14, 2010 at the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre, organisers Hilal Conferences & Exhibitions (HCE) said.

The Gulf Industry Fair is the most important and comprehensive industry-related exhibition in the Middle East, providing a highly targeted opportunity for companies and organisations marketing products or services aimed at the Northern Gulf region’s industrial sector.

Gulf Industry Fair 2010 covers key industrial segments including aluminium, machine tools, industrial equipment and manufacturing, automation, metal, energy, logistics and metrology.

The fair also provides a unique opportunity for the operators of industrial areas and free zones to meet decision makers in the manufacturing and distribution sectors, said a statement.

The event will be held against a background of huge investments in industrial projects in the Gulf region. Between 2011 and 2020, Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) expects to invest at least $48.2 billion on 30 major petrochemical projects, while the Saudi Electricity Company plans to invest $51 billion on increasing electricity production capacity by 60 per cent by 2015.

In the UAE, Abu Dhabi is expected to spend $200 billion in the next five years on urban development, while in Bahrain, 28 companies have so far signed leases to set up their ventures at the Bahrain International Investment Park in Hidd.

The second Gulf Industry Fair held in January this year featured more than 120 exhibitors.
