Bahrain updates quarantine rules

Bahrain has announced that the quarantine period will be seven days from the date of Covid-19 infection for individuals that hold a green shield on the BeAware Bahrain app.
 
Following approval by the Government Executive Committee, and based on the latest international data and developments, the National Medical Taskforce for Combatting the Coronavirus (COVID-19) announced the new rules which will come into efferct from January 13, said a Bahrain News Agency report.
 
Green shield holders can exit quarantine after seven days without taking a PCR test.
 
Individuals who are unvaccinated, or hold either a yellow or red shield on the BeAware Bahrain app, must quarantine for 10 days from the date of infection and can exit quarantine after 10 days without taking a PCR test.
 
The taskforce also announced an update to the precautionary quarantine protocol for travellers entering Bahrain through all  ports of arrival. Individuals holding a yellow or red shield on the BeAware Bahrain app and unvaccinated travellers will need to quarantine on arrival for a period of seven days. Travellers who hold a green shield on the BeAware Bahrain app are not required to quarantine.
 
The taskforce stressed the importance of conducting a PCR test if experiencing  symptoms of Covid-19, and continuing to adhere to all health precautionary measures, said the report.
 
BOOSTER SHOTS 
 
The taskforce also announced that booster shot has been made available "by choice" for those aged 12 to 17 years, starting January 12.
 
Individuals within this  age group who have received two doses of the Sinopharm vaccine will be offered the Sinopharm or Pfizer-BioNTech booster shots, approved for use from six months after the second dose.  
 
However, those who have received both doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine will be offered the Pfizer-BioNTech booster shot only, also six months after the second dose.
 
The Taskforce also noted that the green shield will not change to yellow on the ‘BeAware’ application for this age group if they do not receive a booster shot.
