PERMIT MUST FOR HOLY SITES

Saudi Arabia announces health protocols for Hajj

RIYADH, July 6, 2020

Saudi Arabia has announced health protocols for prevention of Covid 19 disease for Hajj season, forbidding entrance to holy sites Mona, Muzdalifah and Arafat without a permit, starting from July 19 to August 2.

The controls allow completion of Hajj for suspected cases after evaluation by the specialist doctor, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA), citing a statement from the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC). A separate residence and transport are allocated to suspected cases, it added.

The controls detail health conditions for workers, highlight importance of wearing masks and explain logistics for pilgrims to ensure social distancing and procedures of sanitization.

The protocol allows prayers in congregation with an emphasis on wearing a cloth mask during the prayer, and keeping the distance between the worshipers.

The controls also detail measures concerning water and food, hygiene and transport in buses.

In the Grand Mosque, touching or kissing the honourable Kaaba or the Black Stone is prevented, the report said.
