Mainland China reports drop in new Covid-19 cases

BEIJING, China, March 25, 2020


A drop in new confirmed novel coronavirus (Covid-19) cases were reported in Mainland China on Wednesday as imported infections fell and no locally transmitted infections were recorded, said the National Health Commission of China.

On March 24, 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland reported 47 new cases of confirmed infections (all are imported cases), 33 new cases of suspected infections (all are imported cases), and four deaths.

A total of 491 patients were released from hospital after being cured, while 1,215 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 174.

As of March 24, the National Health Commission had received 81,218 reports of confirmed cases and 3,281 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions on the Chinese mainland and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and in all 73,650 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital.

There still remained 4,287 confirmed cases (including 1,399 in serious condition) and 134 suspected cases. So far, 693,223 people have been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 13,356 are now under medical observation.

On March 24, Hubei reported no new cases of confirmed infections, no new cases of suspected infections, and 3 deaths (2 in Wuhan). 487 patients were released from hospital after being cured, including 472 in Wuhan. – TradeArabia News Service
