Novartis meeting to focus on medical referrals

DUBAI, April 24, 2019

Novartis, a leading pharmaceutical company, is bringing together more than 200 of the region’s medical experts in general medicine practice and specialty care to focus on medical referrals to specialists across several therapy areas.

Medical experts will examine patient cases across a few specialties such as cardiometabolic, neuroscience, respiratory, ophthalmology as well as rheumatology. The aim is to drive a better understanding of managing and referring patients to optimize clinical outcomes.

The general practitioner is the first point of contact for people with an undiagnosed health concern to assess and manage a wide range of conditions. Equally important is the role of specialist healthcare professionals in treating patients’ individual health problems. Working together and creating a synergy between general practitioners and specialty care professionals is a core pillar in achieving an integrated and holistic health system that drives operational efficiencies, tracking patient progress, enhancing patient-doctor communications, amongst other benefits.

This event is an important step in bringing top minds in the medical community to highlight and agree on the importance of driving a robust health system, in providing comprehensive and integrated healthcare in an innovative and sustainable manner.

Mohammed Ezz Eldin, head of Novartis Gulf Cluster, said: “Novartis has a longstanding and deep relationship across the region’s medical communities. With patients being at the forefront of everything we do, this event mirrors our commitment in supporting general practitioners as well as specialists to enhance the overall patient journey by addressing their needs.”

A series of panel discussions and roundtables will be held as part of the event to identify challenges and opportunities in patient referrals to specialists. The scope of the general practitioner clinical practice is very crucial, important, and challenging.  It also includes promoting health, preventing diseases, and providing cure and care through early intervention for those at risk. – TradeArabia News Service
