DHA signs partnership with Italian university

DUBAI, February 7, 2018

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has partnered with Italian institution University of Udine, a pioneer in organ transplantation, to develop a joint programme to cooperate on the scientific educational, research and medical level.

The University of Udine, which was founded in 1978, is known for its organ transplantation programme (includes liver, kidneys and bone marrow) and organ transplantation from alive donors (liver and kidney transplantation and a strong relation with bone marrow and stem cell transplantation).

The university is also known for its heart transplantation and cardiology (including emergency in coronary diseases, oncology, rheumatology and autoimmune diseases, molecular diagnostics ad regenerative medicine) programmes.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Humaid Al Qutami, chairman of the Board and director general of the DHA and by Professor Alberto Felice De Toni as his capacity as the rector of the University of Udine.

The two parties will be accomplishing a joint programme aiming to create a cooperation and development on the scientific educational, research and medical level in addition to the exchange and development of medical experiences and competencies.

As part of the MoU, the two parties will also exchange scientific and educational papers and studies, exchange students and specialized cadres. It will also see the two parties organize meetings, seminars and joint training programmes and invite researchers and educational cadres to participate in researches, prepare educational projects and exchange of medical experiences for the purposes of developing the medical cadres in all specialties and sub-specialties.

Al Qutami said the authority aims to expand its partnerships with different medical, scientific and academic organizations in order to exchange experiences and to learn about the latest international innovations in the medical field.

He said the partnership with the university is important because of its specialization in organ transplantation, which will provide the authority with an important opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge about this field.  – TradeArabia News Service
