Unilabs, a leading European provider of clinical laboratory testing and medical diagnostic imaging services, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a share of the UAE-based Scientific Clinical Laboratories (SCL) for an undisclosed amount.

Established in 1990, SCL has been providing highly-specialised laboratory services in the UAE, with a strong brand recognition and a leading market position.

With the acquisition of SCL, Unilabs will strengthen its portfolio of diagnostic services in the Middle East and gain access to the UAE’s local healthcare market, said a statement.
 
Fernando de Górgolas, general manager international business at Unilabs, said: “With its emphasis on high-quality and excellent customer service, SCL is the perfect partner for Unilabs to expand in the region and to develop additional growth opportunities, such as outsourcing.”

Mohammed K Daoud, CEO of SCL, said: “The aim of this partnership is to add value to the industry through provision of dynamic and innovative diagnostic services by combining both the regional expertise of SCL with the long standing and international experience of Unilabs. We are positive that this union will further escalate our current rapid growth into the region.”

Amaury Lachaud, Unilabs’ executive responsible for the Middle East, said: “We will start working with Mohammed and his skilled team at SCL to combine our companies’ strengths and bring exceptional laboratory services to UAE’s patients and healthcare professionals."
