Dubai Physiotherapy Centre gets key accreditation

DUBAI, June 13, 2017

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that its physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre has received a three-year accreditation from Commission Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

CARF is an independent, non-profit accreditor of health and human services.

Established in 2013, the centre provides comprehensive rehabilitative services for children and adults registered at DHA.

The centre received the accreditation after it proved to follow international standards in the field, through equipping the centre with the latest facilities and specialised cadres, said a statement from DHA.

This has contributed to the centre’s high demand by patients who need rehabilitation as the centre receives more than 4,000 patients per month, it said.

The evaluation made by the CARF team found that the centre has a unique environment that promotes rehabilitation treatment. They also commended the centre’s state of the art equipment and its capabilities in helping the patients achieve maximum rehabilitation allowing them to reintegrate into society, it added.

Among the centre’s services, which contributed in achieving the accreditation, are the robotic services that the DHA started utilising to rehabilitate patients and help them stand, walk and improve their overall functions, said a statement.

This technology— which contributed in the rehabilitation of many patients who suffer from neurological disorders, paralysis or weakness in the muscles— is being used for the first time in the Middle East, it said.

The committee also commended the centre’s many services in addition to its rehabilitation programmes that contribute to the patient’s treatment.

Humaid Al Qatami, chairman of the board and director general of the DHA, said that the authority is keen on providing quality services that are at par with international standards as achieving customer satisfaction is the authority’s main priority.

He commended the centre’s staff for contributing to this achievement adding that this could not have been possible without their efforts.

Al Qatami further noted that the centre has 83 specialised medical staff and 40 therapists that offer a number of services that aim to improve the quality of life, they include but are not limited to: physiotherapy, rehabilitation and physical medicine, occupational therapy, speech therapy, orthoptist fabricating devices, nutritional programs to name a few.

The centre also provides minimally invasive procedures that involve regenerative tissue injections that include dextrose prolotherapy, platelets rich plasma, hyaluronic acid and cellular matrix to name a few, he added. – TradeArabia News Service
