Zulekha opens new hitech hospital in India

DUBAI, November 26, 2016

Zulekha Healthcare Group, one of the UAE’s most prominent healthcare groups, has opened its new ₹300 crore ($44 million) multi-specialty hospital at Nagpur in the western state of Maharashtra, India.

The Alexis Multi-Speciality Hospital was inaugurated by Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Shipping, and Dr Zulekha Daud, founder and chairperson of Zulekha Healthcare Group, in the presence of senior government officials.

Speaking at the launch, Taher Shams, the managing director of Zulekha Hospitals and Alexis Multispeciality Hospital, said: "We are delighted and proud to mark our international footprint by sharing our world-class expertise and contributing to the region’s healthcare system and its community."

“We are already recognised as a forerunner in the UAE’s healthcare industry, but our step towards international expansion is underlined by Zulekha Hospitals’ commitment to providing high quality healthcare to all patients and society at large.”

The 200-bed hospital project has been implemented in collaboration with experts from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and with support from International Finance Corporation and the Indian government.

Lauding the UAE group, Gadkari said: "We value your commitment and look forward to receiving quality healthcare services locally. I am happy to join you in this milestone launch. Our best wishes and support to the team in their further developments."

Zanubia Shams, the co-chairperson of Zulekha Hospitals and Alexis Multi-Speciality Hospital, said the hospital was a foundation stone for Nagpur’s future development as a healthcare hub.

"Our dream of giving back to communities both in the UAE and back home has come true and we are glad to be generating multiple opportunities for the socio-economic development of the region," she stated.

Spanning an area of 225,000 sq ft, the hospital will provide medical care across various disciplines, including centres of excellence in cardiac sciences, ENT, Orthopaedics, joint replacement & arthroscopy, neurosciences, paediatrics & neonatology, & internal medicine besides urology, nephrology, gastroenterology and minimal invasive surgery.-TradeArabia News Service
