Top Intersolar delegates tour The Sustainable City

DUBAI, September 22, 2016

The Sustainable City in Dubai, the region’s first fully operational sustainable community, took centre stage at the ‘Intersolar Middle East Exhibition and Conference’ that took place at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) this week.

A number of Intersolar delegates took a technical tour of The Sustainable City, where its real estate developer Diamond Developers conducted the tour. Among the visitors were Ben Hill, vice president sales Europe and Africa of Tesla Energy, and other international delegates.

Showcasing the latest in sustainable technologies, the remarkable city provided visitors with the full experience of day-to-day life in its villas, with a walk-through of every sustainable element of the city.

The city, which has around 1,000 residents with more than 200 villas already occupied, was also showcased at the ‘City Solar’ stand, where The Sustainable City’s latest innovations were displayed.

Faris Saeed, CEO and co-founder of Diamond Developers, said: “Our technical tour of The Sustainable City at this year’s Intersolar Middle East Exhibition and Conference has provided us with an opportunity to showcase our sustainable community as a model in development, and to discuss innovative solutions with engineers, solar experts and energy specialists, this will help us continue our work in sustainable development and encourage other developers to be part of this green economy."

The Sustainable City began drawing energy from the solar panels on June 1 to become the first residential project to produce clean energy in line with Dubai's clean energy strategy - which aims to provide seven per cent of the emirate's energy from clean energy sources by 2020, and 25 per cent by  2030 and 75 per cent by 2050. – TradeArabia News Service
