Dubai Health Authority offers medical cover upto $50,000

DUBAI, April 25, 2016

Medical tourism insurance that covers up to $50,000 in case of emergencies will be offered, as part of Dubai’s medical tourism initiative, Dubai Health Authority (DHA) revealed at the Arab Travel Market (ATM) 2016.

DHA highlighted its plans and strategy to attract 500,000 medical tourists by the year 2020, as part of ‘Dubai, a Global Destination for Medical Tourism’ project at ATM, which was launched today by His Highness Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai.

As part of the Dubai Health Experience (DXH) DHA recently launched a first-of-its-kind website that has all the relevant medical tourism services including: medical tourism packages, booking tickets, buying medical insurance and hotel booking etc. under a single portal known as www.dxh.ae.
DHA revealed that the insurance would include medical insurance covering all travel costs and health complications as well as the cost of emergency cases and return tickets—should a medical tourist need it.

The insurance is activated as soon as the booking is made through DXH’s website.

Dr Layla Al Marzouqi, director of Health Regulation and Dubai Medical Tourism Project, said DHA’s participation in ATM shows the importance of medical tourism in revitalizing the tourism sector.

Dr Al Marzouqi added that the exhibition provides a great platform to promote Dubai as a preferred destination for medical tourists, especially as it has one of the fastest growing tourism sectors in the world and is ranked fourth worldwide as the most visited city in the world.

DHA is promoting Dubai as a medical tourism destination at the exhibition by highlighting is latest innovative services.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to use the DXH.ae website and smart application at the DHA stall and learn about the packages and services available at Dubai's 26 hospitals, which include but are not limited to surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, dental, treatments and specialized tests, to name a few.

DXH provides a package of specialized medical services in collaboration with strategic partners that include Emirates Airlines, the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing and General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai as well as other private sector entities. - TradeArabia News Service
