Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada) said it has successfully completed the expansion and renovation works related to Al Waqan Hospital project, spread over a 8,335-sq-m area in Al Ain city.

The scope of work included revamp of the caesarian operation room and 14 specialised clinics, including ENT, pediatric, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, quarantine, ultrasound scanning, in addition to the renovation of the emergency room in the old building, as well as a helipad to be used in emergencies and the addition of 25 hospital beds, said a statement from Musanada.

“This project is aimed at meeting the population growth requirements in the region besides providing integrated healthcare services to residents by developing the basic infrastructure needed to support and achieve international standards in the provision of healthcare services,” remarked Ali Al Haj Al Mehairbi, the acting executive director (building construction management) at Musanada.

According to him, the Dh127-million ($34.5 million) project was completed in two phases with the first related to the expansion works and the second to renovation of the existing buildings and construction of a new one.

"This includes a new four-unit dialysis department, a paediatric intensive care unit, natural gas unit, medical air unit, air suction unit, as well as a utility building and a double-storey accommodation building for doctors and staff," remarked Al Mehairbi.

The new hospital building will minimise the maintenance costs and provide administrative support services such as conference rooms, parking areas for patients and visitors, meeting the future requirements pertaining the expansion or addition of new healthcare services to be provided towards patients, in line with best international standards, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
