DHA conducts 2m medical fitness tests

DUBAI, February 24, 2016

More than 2.05 million people visited the Dubai Health Authority to run medical fitness centres last year, said a top health official.

Of these 843,085 were new applicants and the remaining were visa-renewals, said a statemment.

Medical fitness test is a mandatory requirement for all expats in the UAE. It is required for a residency, employment or education visa, it said.

The DHA has 16 medical fitness centres across the emirate for issuance and renewal of visas.

Maisa Al Bustani, director of Medical Fitness at the DHA, said: “There has been a 21 per cent increase in the number of people who used our services in 2015 as compared to the previous year.  Of the total number of customers we received, 1.4 million people selected the regular option; 92,680 opted for the 24-hour medical fitness test; 400,891 opted for the 48-hour test and 111,751 selected the VIP option.”

Al Bustani highlighted the benefit of the Tawajud service, which is a fast-track service that is highly beneficial for corporate employees.

DHA employees visit the office or home of the individual who has requested for this service and conduct the medical fitness tests required on the spot, said the statement.

For every request, a maximum of 70 employees are tested. This saves the time of the business community as their employees can get the test done in their offices itself.

The service is also beneficial for homemakers who do not wish to go to a medical fitness centre to renew their visa, Al Bustani added. - TradeArabia News Service
