Centro Capital Centre, in collaboration with Burjeel Hospital, organised an educational awareness session about breast cancer and its early detection.

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in the UAE, with the number of sufferers increasing by 20 per cent since 2009, according to figures released by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).

The Breast Cancer Awareness session aims to generate awareness about the importance of regular breast screening as a key preventive measure against breast cancer.

Ayman Ashor, general manager, Centro Capital Centre, said:  “Raising awareness about breast cancer is the key to encourage early detection, hence saving lives. We would like to thank Burjeel Hospital team for their great collaboration and support in making this event possible.”

The campaign, which is being organised as part of Centro Capital Centre’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, underlines the hotel’s continuing thrust to support various initiatives that benefit its guests, colleagues and community, said the statement.

The awareness session, which was attended by Centro’s female colleague members and Ewa'a Shelters for women and children employees focused on the importance of breast cancer awareness, educating them on proper examination methods and key indicators for them to look out for.

After the awareness session, all the attendees participated in a Q&A session with a medical expert from Burjeel Hospital in order to respond to all their questions about breast cancer awareness, detection or treatment, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
