Survey to tackle deadly diseases in Bahrain

MANAMA, September 17, 2015

Health officials are hoping for some good news in Bahrain’s ongoing battle against heart disease, diabetes and cancer. These so-called non-communicable diseases are the leading cause of death in the country, with cardiovascular disease in particular being the biggest killer – responsible for 34 per cent of deaths in 2013. Meanwhile, diabetes accounted for 24 per cent of deaths and cancer 14 per cent, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
