750 participants register for Dubai’s WHTC

DUBAI, September 28, 2014

A major conference focussed on a range of issues and trends in the health tourism industry will witness over 750 participants from 80 countries take part in Dubai next month.

The ninth World Health Tourism Congress (WHTC), to be held from October 18 to 20, will offer a global platform to healthcare and health insurance providers, tourism promotion bodies, medical and health care regulators and tour operators to highlight various aspects of the medical tourism industry.

The participants will also include high ranking officials from Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Nigeria and Italy.

Capt. Mohamed Hossan Kamal, Minister of Civil Aviation, Egypt and Michele Pharaon, Minister of Tourism, Lebanon will also attend the conference, said Tamer El Chamaa, director of the congress.

The three-day event will be held at the Mohammed bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre in Dubai Health Care City (DHCC).

The congress is being organised by Grand Aurum Marketing in cooperation with DHCC under the patronage of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM).

Moreover, an award ceremony will be held at the gala dinner on October 19 to announce awards for those who are distinguished in their fields.

“Dubai has become a primary hub on a world scale for several activities thanks to the ‘vision’ of its Ruler. Medical tourism is a relatively young sector in all countries and in all the most visited destinations. Dubai is certainly well positioned and has all the potential to become a reference point in this sector as well, but as far as medical tourism is concerned, international cooperation protocols are very important,” said Carlo Acampora, president of Italian Medical Tourism Association who is representing Italy in the congress. – TradeArabia News Service
