Makkah, June 25, 2014

More than 5.3 million pilgrims have entered Saudi Arabia since the beginning of the Umrah season, said a report.

The number of Muslims performing Umrah pilgrimage is expected to increase with the advent of Ramadan, said the Arab News report.

The preparations for the Umrah season will continue by spreading awareness among pilgrims on precautionary and preventive measures to stay healthy, the Ministry of Interior was quoted as saying.

It has stressed the importance of vaccinations, which should be taken by pilgrims to protect against diseases, said the report.

The ministry is also closely monitoring the health condition of Umrah pilgrims in Makkah and Madinah from the day of their arrival until they leave the country, it said.

The Ministry of Haj has confirmed that no Umrah pilgrim has been affected by the coronavirus during the current season, it added.
