Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities to launch unique VR simulation

ABU DHABI, May 20, 2021

The Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities has announced it will launch a unique educational experience that simulates Virtual Reality (VR) as installations on a wide range of lecture halls on campus.

The project aims to introduce the most prominent scholars in Arab and Islamic civilisation who have left a great impact on humanity, including Al-Biruni, Al-Khwarizmi, Ibn Hazm, Ibn Sina, Thabit bin Qurra and others.

By offering this new experience, the university hopes to create a continuous learning experience for the whole academic community on campus as well as guests, who will benefit greatly from the educational features of the project that will be based in the main building of the university.

In addition to being a platform that will display some of the most important and timeless historical and humanitarian documents, such as the Document on Human Fraternity, Constitution of Medina, New Alliance of Curiosity, Marrakesh Declaration, Makkah Declaration, Vatican Document, it will also highlight important national and international instruments that spread the culture of tolerance, coexistence and preserving rights and freedoms such as the constitutions of different countries, the Law on Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Hatred, and the United Nations Charter.

The innovative technical idea is based on the principle of allocating each hall to a certain world or personality through an electronic code located on the outside door.

Students and users scan it through the lens of their mobile phone to show them comprehensive historical information that speaks about a specific personality. Every detail of this character’s life constitutes a unique experience and a paradigm shift in the distinctive teaching methods that the university offers.

University officials revealed that the launch of this advanced educational method was the result of the concerted efforts of the technical and academic experts both within and outside the university to ensure that it will provide an excellent learning experience.

Dr Khaled Salem Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of the university said: “The Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities is keen to provide students and graduates with 21st century skills to ensure their ability to continue their education at every opportunity as part of the implementation of the directives of the wise leadership in strengthening research efforts in the country and instilling the value of the love of science and knowledge among students. The university has an advanced digital educational system capable of providing students with a smart educational experience, to keep pace with digital development in the educational field and to achieve the UAE Centennial Vision 2071.”-- TradeArabia News Service
