HBMSU takes part in virtual panel discussion

DUBAI, June 21, 2020

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) will continue harnessing the potential of advanced technologies such as the Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to fundamentally change the educational system and to provide the best education to the innovators and creators of the future.

This approach of HBMSU is in line with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of HBMSU, to radically change the face of education and enhance its readiness to build the future with the help of a generation that is highly qualified and globally competitive.

Dr Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMSU, discussed key best practices that promote sustainability within the education sector during his participation in a panel discussion that took place at the virtual seminar entitled ‘Operational Sustainability and the Need for Cost Optimisation.’

The session, which was held on the sidelines of Honeywell Virtual Technology Week, highlighted the innovative approach adopted by the HBMSU to promote innovation, technology and smart transformation.

Al Awar further highlighted the infrastructural capabilities and superior technology advantage of HBMSU, most notably the Smart Campus, Smart Building and Gamification methodology, which have helped consolidate the leadership of the university as a pioneering institution for smart learning in the Arab world.

He pointed out the importance of strategic partnerships between the HBMSU and leading global entities that embody its principle of ‘Together We Grow’ in advancing higher education, led by three main pillars, innovation, disruption, and transformation.

The Chancellor added: “Our partnership with Honeywell is extremely important as it plays a significant role in developing and promoting innovations of AI, IoT and data analysis to improve energy efficiency and drive sustainability efforts. This agreement supports HBMSU’s efforts in establishing itself as a free economic and creative zone in line with the Dubai University Free Zones Strategy, as well as in transforming the campus into a sustainable and integrated building in line with the highest international standards. While laying solid foundations for the development of interactive, smart and sustainable facilities that create a learning environment for innovation, creativity and excellence, it also supports our aspirations to get 10 years ahead of other leading universities in the world.”

Al Awar concluded his participation in the session by sharing his visions about the future of e-learning with the attendees. He explained the most notable and emerging trends within the digital space, which he believes is a great step towards empowerment, development, and sustainability in the future. -- Tradearabia News Service
