UAE ministry, Swiss centre to launch science-hub

DUBAI, February 19, 2018

UAE’s Ministry of Education has signed an agreement with of the Swiss Science Center, Technorama, to establish a centre for science in the UAE.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Marwan Al Sawaleh, Undersecretary for Academic Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Thorsten Kunnemann, director of Technorama, reported Emirates news agency Wam.

Signed on the 4th day of the National Science, Technology and Innovation (NSTI) Festival, the MoU comes within the ministry's efforts to develop students' scientific and knowledge skills under its strategy to develop the learning process.

The MoU stipulates collaboration between Technorama and the Ministry of Education to utilise personnel, knowledge and expertise in establishing a sci-hub in the UAE and other STEM education initiatives.

Launched on February 15 by the Ministry of Education as part of the UAE Innovation Month, at Dubai Festival Arena, the NSTI features initiatives, activities and programmes that will run till 19th February, 2018.

The 4th day of the Festival was filled with inspiring sessions, energetic activities, thrilling competitions and valuable edutainment.
