ABU DHABI, September 28, 2017

UAE-based Paris-Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (PSUAD) said it has signed a partnership agreement with  ABB, pioneering technology leader in electrification products, robotics and motion, industrial automation and power grids.

This partnership aims to develop the university’s research activities and programmes as well as enhance the student’s academic development to prepare them for their professional careers, said a statement from the Abu Dhabi-based university.

This is to be achieved through the annual career event the university organises and student internship opportunities at ABB, it stated.

With this agreement, ABB joins the companions of enlightenment of PSUAD that support the university’s research in the fields of history, geography, archeology, history of art, philosophy, sciences and languages, remarked Prof Eric Fouache, the vice chancellor after signing the deal with Pierre Leretz, the regional president IA Div at ABB and Mostafa AlGuezeri, the managing director at ABB in the UAE.

"Academic research is crucial at our university as it creates knowledge and expands research in different fields through using various methodologies and theoretical approaches. It also reinforces the university’s international exposure and its position as a prestigious cultural institution," remarked Prof Fouache.

"Accordingly, we are proud to welcome ABB as one of our companions of enlightenment especially that they share the same research interest as our university through their Research Grant Programme," he stated.

AlGuezeri said: "We are delighted to join the university as a companion of enlightenment as ABB is first and foremost a technology company, and every year we devote more than $1.5 billion to various research and development activities globally."

"We maintain seven corporate research centers, employ 8,000 scientists and support 70 universities through collaborations around the world. We are very proud to establish a collaboration in the UAE, where universities are furthering the cause of sciences," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
