Among the deportees were many US and British citizens of Arab origin. Some of them were holding Doctorate degrees and about 4,000 were university graduates, reported Arab Times, citing sources in the Ministry of Interior.

Around 8,000 of them were found to be ‘unfit’ by the health authorities, a majority of them Arabs and most of them said to be suffering from Hepatitis and 10 were carriers of AIDS, the sources stated.

Indian community topped the list of deportees at 24 per cent, followed by Egyptians (23 per cent), Filipinos (14 per cent), Ethiopians (13 per cent), Sri Lankans (seven) and Bangladeshis six per cent, it added.
