DUBAI, July 18, 2017

Dubai Police has partnered with the Rochester Institute of Technology, Dubai campus (RIT-Dubai), a leading American University based in Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), towards boosting the knowledge and expertise of its police officers.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr Juma Al Matrooshi, deputy CEO of Operations and Client Affairs at DSOA, and Major General Dr Al Salal Saeed Al Falasi, director of the Department of Administrations at Dubai Police.

As per the agreement, RIT-Dubai will admit candidates employed with Dubai Police to the undergraduate, postgraduate, or executive leadership programmes available at the university at subsidised fees. Employees of Dubai Police will also be invited to attend workshops, seminars, and forums organized by RIT-Dubai.

In addition, Dubai Police will collaborate in joint research and consultancy projects that benefit the Dubai economy and the UAE at large through providing internships to RIT-Dubai students, and participate in the annual career fair organized by RIT-Dubai.

Dr Al Matrooshi said: “Since its establishment in 2008, DSOA has been committed to supporting RIT-Dubai in its journey of growth. Today, we reiterate this commitment by working closely with various entities in the public and private sectors in boosting local talent with the required skillset and expertise, in line with global standards, ultimately strengthening the UAE’s position on an international scale. We take this opportunity to congratulate Dubai Police on this distinct partnership that we are confident will offer long-term benefits,” he added.

Major Al Falasi emphasized the keenness of Dubai Police to strengthen synergies with universities across the UAE and support their journey of academic excellence. He confirmed that these universities are on par with global institutions, both in the quality of education and training offered and in boasting high-calibre faculty and teaching staff. He said the campuses foster creativity and will boost the competitiveness of Dubai’s police officers and ensure they are on par with their international counterparts, as envisioned by the wise leadership of the Dubai Government and wider UAE.

He added: “This agreement is part of the ESAAD program that aims to achieve the highest levels of happiness within the Dubai Police force through developing an innovative and stimulating work environment. The partnership will also contribute to the Dubai Police strategy of providing best-in-class services that exceed expectations and enhance employee happiness, ultimately increasing the satisfaction and well-being of the community.”

Dr Yousef Al-Assaf, president of RIT-Dubai, said: “We are delighted to join hands with Dubai Police, and welcome their employees to engage with our esteemed academicians on a range of topics. We believe this expansion of our student pool will boost diversification of knowledge and points of views, ultimately enhancing the experience gained when joining RIT-Dubai. Being a preferred education partner to one of the most esteemed police forces in the world is testament to the world-class offerings available at the university.” – TradeArabia News Service
