Gems Education to manage school in Madinah

DUBAI, July 4, 2017

Dubai-based Gems Education has signed a cooperation agreement with Al Boraq Education Charitable Fund to manage an international school in the holy city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

The agreement was signed between Ihab Hashani, secretary general of the Executive Committee of Al Boraq Education Charitable Fund and Dino Varkey, chief executive officer, Gems Education.

The school will feature an advanced learning environment built on a prime site of 50,000-sq-m, and will open its doors to students in September 2019.

As part of the agreement, Gems Education will provide technical, academic, pre-operational and operational management services to the school.  The school is planned to accommodate 1,650 students, and will deliver an international American curriculum with strong focus on Arabic and Islamic cultural beliefs and values.

Varkey said: “Gems Education remains committed to providing high-quality education throughout the region and beyond. By managing our third school in Saudi Arabia we are reaffirming our commitment to the Kingdom in providing educational choices for families, underpinned by the GEMS expertise, developed over 55 years.”

The event took place during the first honorary council and board of trustees meeting chaired by HRH Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Madinah and President of the Honorary Council of Al Boraq Education Charitable Fund. The council reviewed the project progress to date and pledged support to this noble effort, giving the Gems team the green light to kick start the project. - TradeArabia News Service
