10 Bahrain students train at Huawei in China

MANAMA, June 4, 2017

Ten Bahrain students have completed a training trip to Huawei headquarters in Shenzhen, China, as part of the company’s ‘Seeds for the Future’ programme.

The leading global ICT solutions provider’s flagship global CSR programme aims to train and develop young ICT talent to become tomorrow’s leaders.

In Bahrain, this programme is in-line with the kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030, and its key targets of building the capacity for knowledge based economy and driving the digital transformation.

During the two-week visit to China, students received hands-on training in Huawei’s state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories at the company’s headquarters in Shenzhen. Students also had the chance to experience Chinese culture and work for a multi-national corporation, acquiring advanced practical ICT knowledge in live working environment.

Dr Anwar Alabdulla, Ambassador of Bahrain to China, welcomed the students at a ceremony attended by a number of senior Huawei officials and academia. In his address, Dr. Alabdulla urged the students to work diligently and strive for a brighter future information society and a better connected world. “You will become members of a small, elite group of some 1,500 people from around 150 universities worldwide that have completed this exceptional learning opportunity,” he added.
“We are proud to continue our flagship global CSR program in the kingdom and offer Bahraini talent with the necessary skills and knowledge to become tomorrow’s ICT leaders,” said Quwenchu, Huawei senior VP. “Over the course of the past two weeks, we had the honour of hosting 10 of the brightest Bahraini students, and offer them the chance to further develop their ICT skills and knowledge in some of the world’s most advanced technology facilities in China, so that they become active players in translating Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 to reality.”

Launched in 2008, “Seeds for the Future” is Huawei's flagship CSR programme aimed at cultivating local ICT talent, promoting knowledge transfer, improving people's interest in and understanding of the ICT industry, and encouraging countries and regions to participate in the building of digital communities
As an ICT leader, Huawei is committed to promoting the ICT industry development in the countries in which it operates, and aims to drive long term economic, social and environmental sustainability. The programme represents Huawei’s desire to nurture promising young professionals.

Over the course of the programme, Huawei shared its ICT expertise and the experience of working in a multinational environment with young ICT professionals, thus helping to fuel the development of local ICT industries. By implementing the programme in local markets, Huawei seeks to close the gap between knowledge learned in the classroom and the skills required by today’s industry workplace. –TradeArabia News Service
