Sabic backs Madinah education academy

MADINAH, June 3, 2017

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) has signed an agreement to support the Madac Education Academy in Madinah with a SR20 million ($5.3 million) initiative.

Under the agreement, Sabic will support the Madac Education Academy, which aims to build a world-class educational complex with a balanced environment for education and cultural values – one that applies the best educational theories and practices.

Sabic will contribute to the construction of the academy’s museum and exploration centre, with an area of 2000 sq m. The centre specialises in providing an investigative education for children and young people, encouraging them to understand the historical, cultural, and scientific aspects of civilisation and to develop intellectual skills in science and culture.

Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Governor of the Madinah Region, was the patron of the signing ceremony.

The ceremony, held on May 29, was attended by Prince Saud bin Abdullah bin Thenyan Al-Saud, president of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu and chairman of Sabic.

The chairman commended the Madac Academy’s role in improving the quality of education and said Sabic is keen on innovative socially responsible initiatives and cooperating with community partners to provide the best services to society.

He said Sabic’s contribution to establishing this academy is in line with its strategy, which supports science and technology education.

Yousef Al-Benyan, Sabic vice chairman and chief executive officer, and Abdullah Hafez, Madac executive director, Madinah, signed the agreement.

Hafez spoke about the vision of the academy and its quality services, which will be provided through education, training, and research, from kindergarten to high school. He commended Sabic’s social initiatives and support for the academy. - TradeArabia News Service
