Dubai gears up for biggest Digae edition

DUBAI, January 23, 2016

The Dubai Government has unveiled plans to host the largest edition of its new thought leadership conference Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition (DIGAE) 2016 in April.

Involving more than 20 government departments from Dubai and UAE Federal Government from April 11 to 13, Digae will showcase the achievements and projects of its employees and development initiatives.

Major enhancements to the upcoming DIGAE include invitations to 40+ of world’s top competitive cities, to exchange expertise with the local government entities.

International governmental entities who have confirmed their participation include New York, Brussels, Paris, Santander (Spain), Graz (Austria), Copenhagen (Denmark), and Tokyo Innovation Network.

In 2016, Digae has attained the status of the official Government to Citizen/Residents forum on innovation and happiness with an open dialogue between the public sector officials and members of the public on the effectiveness, efficiency and performance of all public services.

At Digae exhibition, innovation is the over-reaching theme, showcasing all new and ongoing innovation by all Government of Dubai departments and the invited countries, said Abdullah Al Shibani, the secretary-general of the Dubai Executive Council, and chairman of Dubai Government Excellence Programme (DGEP), at a media conference.

It was also attended by Major-General Khamis Mattar Al Mazina, commander-in-chief, Dubai Police, Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the RTA board and Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and chief executive of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and Dr Ahmed Al Nuseirat, Coordinator General, Dubai Government Excellence Program.

The conference for thought leadership will drive an international debate on public sector excellence and Dubai Smart Governance model, stated Al Shibani.

Under the Digae Smart-Lab initiative aimed at involving children in the government excellence process, the students in the UAE have been invited to submit their technology-focused inventions, which will be later adopted by government authorities, he said.

The event will be held under the theme ‘Local Government and Global Achievements’.

“The aim of DGAE is to spread awareness about the development of integrated government work based on innovation and creativity, supported by technology. Organising this exhibition annually reflects the commitment of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council of Dubai in line with the vision of the wise leadership to promote the continuous success of government work,” added Al Shibani.

The fourth edition will include partnerships between the many departments within the framework of providing innovative services and service for residents and visitors.-TradeArabia News Service
