Injaz Bahrain trainee numbers to hit 100,000

MANAMA, October 9, 2015

Injaz Bahrain, a non-profit organisation which trains Bahraini youth to become work-ready,  expects to help 100,000 students by the end of the current academic year.

At a special event celebrating the organisation’s 10th anniversary, it was revealed that organisation has recruited around 3,200 volunteers who trained around 87,000 students from 200 schools and universities so far.

The organisation reached around 2,000 students from a limited number of intermediate schools in its first year (2005), and subsequently expanded its programmes over the years to reach more than 20,000 students from elementary to university level on an annual basis, it said.

The anniversary event, held at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa, was patronised by Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, and was attended by Dr Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Education, senior directors and employees from the organisation, as well as representatives from its strategic partners from the public and private sectors.

The event kicked off with an exhibition of outstanding projects by students who were trained under the organisation’s various programmes over the years, such as “The Company” programme and others. The attendees toured the exhibition and engaged with the students and discussed ways of further developing their ideas.

This was followed by the opening address delivered by Sheikha Hessa, in which she underlined the key highlights and milestones of the organisation since its establishment in 2005, especially noting the steady increase each year in schools, students, and volunteers involved in its programmes.

“Injaz Bahrain’s achievements over the past decade would not be possible without the support of our supporters from the public and private sectors, as well as the thousands of volunteers”, she said. “We are proud to have them as business partners and sincerely value and appreciate their financial and advisory support.”

Moreover, Sheikha Hessa hailed the important role played by the organisation’s stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education. As the official government agency in charge of developing educational system in Bahrain to facilitate creativity and innovation, the ministry was instrumental in coordinating between the organisation and the schools to maximise the footprint of the programmes.

She also praised Injaz Bahrain’s strategic partners in the private sector for their valuable support, whether through financial backing, offering advice and guidance, or providing volunteers. The support provided by these companies stems from their corporate social responsibility and strong belief in the Injaz Bahrain’s mission to equip the next generation of Bahrainis with the knowledge and skills to contribute to building Bahrain’s economic future.

To that end, the event also featured videos of several students who shared their experiences about how the training they received helped expand their horizons and pave the way for their success in the labour market, whether as employees or entrepreneurs. Among these students were the student teams from Bahrain who won the regional Mena-wide competition organised by the parent organisation Injaz Al-Arab and Coca-Cola’s Ripples of Happiness competition.-TradeArabia News Service
